Social and environmental responsibility
Sustainability and ethical principles are a special concern to TORLAND. That is why we have selected our suppliers and manufacturers according to social and ecological criteria.
Transparent supply chain for our jeans
Our jeans are produced by Denimce, a certified manufacturer in Turkey, which meets the following standards:
- Ethical supply chain according to SEDEX; these standards include workplace rights, occupational health, safety and environmental protection
- Code of Conduct of the BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative); this code is based on international treaties for the protection of workers’ rights
We use environmentally friendly fabrics that meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Oeko-Tex Standard 100
- Organic 100 Content Standard resp. Organic Blended Content Standard
- Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)
- Bluesign System
- Global Recycle Standard
We make sure that all additives such as labels, buttons, rivets etc. are sourced locally in Turkey, so that the transport routes are short and the ecological footprint is minimized.
We use a label made of recycled leather instead of a normal leather label. Leather waste is recycled and glued. These labels are obtained from Kasiv Etiket.
Transparent supply chain for our T-shirts
The T-shirts are hand-printed in Vienna by the screen printing studio PerpetuuMobile 2.3.
Transparent supply chain for our bags
Our bags are made by Mono Imex Co. LTD, a small manufacturing company in Bangkok, Thailand. They either upcycle the fabrics of locally collected old jeans or use woven cotton from local cultivation.
